Diverticulitis
Diverticular disease is the presence of “pockets” in the wall of the bowel. When these “pockets” become infected, symptoms of pain and discomfort arise and the condition is termed Diverticulitis.
During this time, avoidance of harsh fibres such as seeds and nuts may be encouraged. However, if you do not have an infection, this may not be necessary. The best treatment to prevent infections in Diverticular disease is to maintain regular bowel activity. Constipation is the major cause of Diverticular disease and Diverticulitis.
