Type 1 Diabetes

Diabetes is the name given to a group of conditions in which there is too much glucose (sugar) in the blood.

Type 1 diabetes occurs when there is a partial or total failure of insulin production by your pancreas. It is an autoimmune disease that can develop suddenly in children or adults under 40 years of age and unlike type 2 diabetes, always requires the treatment of insulin.

Maintaining good control of your diabetes is really important to reduce the risk of long term complications.
