CK specialises in gastrointestinal disorders (inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroparesis, eosinophilic esophagitis), food intolerances (including FODMAPs and food chemical sensitivities), cardiovascular disease, chronic fatigue syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
CK consults from Glen Iris, Surrey Hills and via Skype.
CK is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with extensive experience in dietary management of a range of gastrointestinal conditions, malodourous gas, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, POTs, adapting to a vegan and vegetarian lifestyle as well as eating for general, heart and gut health. She graduated from Deakin University in 2009 with honours and started her dietetic career within the FODMAP research team at Department of Gastroenterology, Monash University, exploring the role of probiotics and individual FODMAPs on IBS symptoms. Her research expertise has taken her overseas for a post-doctoral fellowship at the Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong where she pioneered research into the benefits of a combined traditional Chinese food therapy & low FODMAP diet in the management of upper gut symptoms and IBS.
CK has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), having completed a PhD at Monash University, Alfred Health on ‘how diet affects the activity of our gut microbiota in health and in inflammatory bowel disease’. She continues to engage actively in IBD research. CK has also presented her work both internationally and nationally in conferences and was a recipient of the “Best New Conference Presenter” at an International Dietetics Conference, two-time finalists of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia Young Investigator Award. She actively promote evidence-based diet therapies amongst health professionals through her speaking engagements at professional development events for dietitians, gastroenterologists and GPs.
CK loves to combine science with practical dietary approaches to help clients achieve good nutrition and their health goals. Her passion lies in empowering individuals with the tools and knowledge as they embark on their dietary journey.
